CRISPY MARSHMALLOW TREATS

4 Tbs butter
4 cup marshmallows
    or
10 oz. package of mini-marshmallows
5 cup Rice Krispies cereal
     or
5 cup Cheerios
     or
5 cup Capn' Crunch
     or
5 cup Corn Pops

Stovetop:
Spray large saucepan with non-stick coating (e.g.  Pam).  Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.  Add marshmallows and stir until melted.  Cook 3 minutes, stirring constantly .  Remove from heat, add cereal and stir till all are coated.  Using buttered spatula, press evenly into buttered 13x9x2" pan.  Cool.  Cut into 2" squares.

Microwave:
Spray microwave safe bowl with non-stick coating (e.g.  Pam).  Microwave butter and marshmallows on high for 1 minute, remove and stir, replace and repeat on high 1 minute.  Once melted and easily stirred add cereal and mix until evenly coated.  Using buttered spatula, press evenly into buttered 13x9x2" pan.  Cool.  Cut into 2" squares.

Variations:

Add 1 cup raisins, 1 cup peanuts or 1/4 cup peanutbutter to marshmallows, or melt2 squares chocolate with marshmallows.

For Christmas add green food colouring (if desired), shape into "trees" or press into buttered ring or small bundt mold.   Decorate with red cinnamon candies (for tree) or spearmint leaves and jelly berries for ring mold (resembles a wreath).
